CORY

VINCENT
Barely more than half of murders get solved nationwide.

CORY
Seriously?

VINCENT
Yeah.

CORY
You sure?

VINCENT
Yeah.

(Beat.)

CORY
Wow.

VINCENT
Yeah.

(Beat.)

CORY
That’s kind of frightening.

VINCENT
Yeah, you’d like to think you couldn’t get away with murder.

CORY
Yeah. It always seems assumed.

VINCENT
But in reality it’s not true at all.

CORY
Yeah.

VINCENT
You could easily get away with murder if you really wanted to.

CORY
Weird to think of.

VINCENT
Definitely.

(Pause.)

VINCENT
All moral issues aside, it wouldn’t be too hard at all.

CORY
I guess not.

VINCENT
All you need to do is make sure no one sees you, and ditch the murder weapon. That and not confessing obviously.

CORY
Yeah.

VINCENT
That’s the trick, no matter what they pull, you don’t say shit.

CORY
Yeah.

(Beat.)

CORY
You could use an alibi too.

VINCNET
It’s not necessary.

CORY
I think it is.

VINCENT
No, doesn’t matter really. They need hard evidence to get a conviction.

CORY
But if you had motive, and no alibi, they’d heavily suspect you.

VINCENT
It wouldn’t matter. They can know you did it, but if they don’t have anything that’s non-circumstantial, you walk.

CORY
I guess.

(Beat.)

VINCENT
Of course, that’s all the moral reasons aside.

CORY
Yeah.

VINCENT
Even putting the possibility of going to jail aside, I could never kill anyone.

CORY
Me neither.

(Beat.)

VINCENT
It’s weird to think you could though.

CORY
Very.
