Play 203: Admit It
CHARACTERS
SEAN, 23
AMY, 23
(They sit in a cafe drinking coffee.)
SEAN
(Slightly angrily.)
Just admit it.
AMY
Why are you getting so angry?
SEAN
Because you said it.
AMY
(Flustered.)
No I didn’t!
SEAN
You did.
AMY
I’m sure I didn’t.
SEAN
I’m sure you did.
AMY
(Annoyed.)
Why do you even care?
SEAN
Because I’m right.
AMY
(Angrily.)
So what?
SEAN
So I want you to say that you said it.
AMY
It doesn’t even matter!
SEAN
Yes it does.
AMY
It’s completely trivial!
SEAN
So?
AMY
So why do you care?!
SEAN
Because you said it.
AMY
No I didn’t!
SEAN
Yes you did.
AMY
What is wrong with you?
SEAN
Nothing.
AMY
Then just leave it alone!
SEAN
No.
AMY
I said it!
SEAN
What?
AMY
Are you happy now?
SEAN
No.
AMY
(Flustered.)
Why?
SEAN
You’re just saying it to shut me up.
AMY
No I’m not.
SEAN
You are.
AMY
I was being honest.
SEAN
You weren’t.
AMY
Will you stop being so goddamn argumentative?
SEAN
Not until you admit you said it.
AMY
I’m leaving.
SEAN
You can’t just—
AMY
(Angrily.)
Really?
(She gets up.)
SEAN
Come on—
(She walks out of the cafe, leaving her cup of coffee behind.)
(Blackout.)
